Drivin' Along In Our Automobile

On our way to Wyoming from Kansas, after our honeymoon, Jeff and I started reading The Virginian by Owen Wister. The opening scene in the book takes place in the town of Medicine Bow, Wyoming which is not far from Laramie. So last Saturday we decided to do a little exploring around the area. We stayed off the highway as much as we could and drove through several of the small communities scattered East of the Snowy Range. We packed a picnic in the handy-dandy picnic backpack my Grandma gave us as a wedding gift, and found a spot by a creek to enjoy our lunch.

There are a few signs of spring here and there.

Trying to get our smiles coordinated...

He's basically an all around stud.

We aaaalllllmost got lost hiking back to our car. Almost.

Back on the road, we got to the town of Medicine Bow, which mainly consists of "The Virginian Hotel Eating House Saloon Motel & RV Hookups", "The Virginian's Coffee Shop" which was permanently closed, and "Miss Molly's Wash House".

We decided not to move to Medicine Bow.

This is Elk Mountain.

We spotted some mule deer.

And a very pregnant horse.

And lots of wide open space.
  Cheers!
